Lastname Domains exists because nobody else treats your name as more than a keyword. We check the shape of your name against the public registries, tell you the truth about what's available, and help with the hard case — a taken name worth pursuing.
How the availability checks work
When you search, your browser asks the registry that operates each domain ending — Verisign for .com and .net, the Public Interest Registry for .org, the registries behind .family, .world, .life, .email, .site and .online, Google Registry for .app and .dev, and CentralNic for .xyz — over the open RDAP protocol. Those registries publish a "not found" answer for unregistered names; that is what "available" means here. It is the same source of truth registrars use, queried keyless and free, straight from your browser.
Some endings (like .me) don't publish the same open registry data, so we check whether the name exists in the global DNS instead — those results are marked “· DNS” in your results. And every answer is a moment in time: names are registered continuously, which is why we show results instantly and encourage acting on them.
What happens to your data
Nothing leaves your browser. There are no accounts, no tracking cookies, and no server receiving your searches. The full detail is in Privacy.
How this site makes money
Three ways, all disclosed: (1) if you register a name through a registrar link, the registrar may pay us a commission — your price is unaffected; (2) concierge acquisitions that proceed may carry a referral or commission arrangement, stated separately before anything is agreed; (3) the lastnamedomains.com brand and domain are themselves presented as an opportunity — investors, partners and acquirers are all welcome to start a conversation.
We don't sell data (there is none to sell), don't run ads, and don't publish fake scarcity. The terms spell out the limits of what this site promises.
